Safeguarding is everyone's business

At St Paul's we want everyone to feel safe and to enjoy being part of a welcoming congregation.

If anyone feels uncomfortable in any way we would encourage them to seek help.

The Parish Safeguarding Officer is Mrs Delia Richmond; please contact Delia on 01765 658765 for more information or to share any concerns you may have.

This page provides links and advice on how to get further help. It refers directly to the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales website which provides extensive information on what to do if you think someone in our Parish is at risk or being abused. Please do not hesitate to act. We can only help to deal with these issues when we are aware of them.  The following pages will help you to find someone you can trust and talk to.

If a child or adult is at immediate risk of significant harm, in the first instance you should always contact your local social services team or local police (call 101). And then inform your Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser - listed below. However, if you are unsure about the level of your concern, please contact your Safeguarding Adviser for advice as soon as possible.

At Diocesan Synod in March, there was unanimous support for the motion “That this Synod reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding all God’s people; adopts the Policy Safeguarding All God’s People in respect of its areas of responsibility; and strongly commends the Policy to parishes for their adoption and implementation”.

The Safeguarding team wrote to parishes in March with guidance about the new Safeguarding Policy Statement. Copies of all of the documents sent to parishes are available in the News section of the Safeguarding page.

The Safeguarding team are currently reviewing and updating the website to ensure that all the material is up to date and relevant to parish work. If you are unable to find something that you require during this period of revision please contact Jenny Price the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser on 01924 371802 or 07800 740001.
